Creation painting on canvas
CREATION OF FRESCO MURAL PAINTING
Creation painting on wood
Creation of altarpieces
This is a technique of mural painting applied on cool and wet mortar in such a form that the pigments, diluted in pure water or lime water, are agglutinated due to the carbonizing chemical reaction of the calcium hydroxide or slaked lime and this way become part of the wall whereby fast deterioration of the painting is being avoided.

Support

Definition: Type of wall (brick, stone, hollow block...) or mobile metallic structure which is used as a base for the creation of the fresco mural paintings.

MONTART CREATION outlines a study of the zone where the fresco mural painting is to be located (possible humidity of the wall, aspects and facing direction of the church, etc.) and so determines the kind of the adequate rendering coats.

Aluminium pannels can be used as supports in case that the painting cannot be applied onto the wall due to excess chloride or humidity or on customer request. These panels receive specific treatments so that mortars and lime easily adhere and the procedure is the same as for wall paintings. Then these panels are joined together by a metallic structure on the wall so that the visual effect of the work is the same.

Rendering coats

Definition: Type of mortar applied on the support as a preparatory layer. Its usually to apply two to three layers of mortar of different quality.

MONTART CREATION adapts the technique of creation and application of mortar to fit with the location. And as the ancient Romans proceeded, the last layer is of wet slaked lime onto which colour was applied.

Preparatory drawing

Definition: Previous drawing before using paints for the final work.

MONTART CREATION carries out studies prior to the preparatory drawing. This means that we make sketches on paper or cardboard to determine what the painting should be like before any kind of drawing is made on the wet slaked lime layer.

Once the topic is chosen and by using the Great Masters' technique, i.e. with the help of templates, the drawings are then traced onto the wall. Afterwards they are painted with the adequate pigments.
